REVIEW: The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner

My First book for the EW challenge :

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Twilight. I've had a Love/ Hate with it. I remember buying the first book and enjoying it before all the TWIfandom began. I bought a copy of this novella for a Blog giveaway and decided to get one for my self. Eclipse is my favorite TWIbook and so seeing how this Novella tied into it I was looking forward to reading it.

I loved this Novella! You can see a marked improvement in Meyer as an Author. I liked the rawness and vulnerability of Bree's character. Meyer unflinchingly portrays the viciousness of the Newborns attacks. It is also interesting to see the Twilight world viewed through a different set of eyes. Bree lives her days trying hard to remain unnoticed in the shifting hierarchy of the newbie coven. She finds an unexpected companion in Diego an older Vamp(almost a year!) together they discover secrets of their nature being hidden from them by their leader Riley and the mysterious HER, their maker.

Bree and Diego's happiness is threatened by a coming event, a battle against the "yellow eyed ones". The title implies the ending of this story but the pacing of the story and Bree's characterization leaves you hoping for a different out come. I must confess I couldn't remember the exact ending of Eclipse until coming towards the end of the Novella, but I enjoyed this short trip back into TwiWorld very much :)

I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but I've not read any of the Twilight books. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed this one. I'm not sure it's worth me reading without the background though.

Glad that you feel Meyer's writing has improved! That's what was worrying me the most, so now I'm eager to get into this book right away!
