ONCE UPON A READATHON: Review and Giveaway!!

Thanks To Bonnie Lenz of Earthshaker Books I had the opportunity to review The Prehistoric adventure Novel Zan-Gah below is my review and there is a chance to win a copy of both books in the series!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The hero, Zan-Gah seeks his lost twin in a savage prehistoric world, encountering suffering, captivity, conflict, love, and triumph. In three years, Zan-Gah passes from an uncertain boyhood to a tried and proven manhood and a position of leadership among his people. Themes: survival, cultures, gender roles, psychological trauma, nature's wonders and terrors Good Reads

Zan-Gah is a very enjoyable Young Adult novel set during prehistoric times. We are introduced to Young Zan as he and his tribe are joining with neighboring tribes to hunt a lion that has mauled a young child.

To his surprise Zan delivers the killing blow and earns his adult name of Zan-Gah. Manhood rests uneasy on Zan's shoulders as he finds himself tormented by dreams concerning his lost twin brother Dael. Thus begins Zan's journey to find his twin brother.

I was really impressed with the narrative style of this book. I was wondering how Allan would address writing for characters in the prehistoric age. He successfully navigates this with vivid description's of Zan's surroundings and his internal thoughts. The action is fast paced, as Zan encounters the hardships outside his village and dangers contacts with neighboring tribes. Zan remembers many of his fathers teachings, but also shows his own ingenuity and strength while facing a year of captivity.

This book is a quick fun read highly suggested for Boys and girls ages 10 and above, as well as the child within us all! This would be a great novel for the summer months and definitely will keep the reader engaged.

This book also has a sequel: Zan-Gah and THE Beautiful Country
