12 Day 2: UPDATED: READATHON WINNER

UPDATE: THE READATHON WINNER IS MRS. DERAPS !!
THANKS EVERYONE

Welcome to the 2nd Day of X-mas !

Traditionally celebrated on December 27

I learned that this day was a day to honor St. John and also was called Mother Night

Mother Night was Known as Frau Holle in Germany and was also called Mother Christmas. Such an interesting figure that I hadn't heard of before! According to legend Mother Christmas visits various towns during the twelve days dispensing gifts from a sleigh pulled by dogs.  She is also known as Frau Gode in Germany.I really enjoy learning about Christmas tales and legends, this one is very interesting!

To learn more check out this fabulous book!

Today I'm taking part in this wonderful Readathon:

I'm also Hosting the First Mini-Challenge for it!

Liza Wiemer is a fellow blogger who I shared tweets with during a Halloween Readathon. She was inspired to host her own. So read below to learn a little bit more about Liza and then go sign up! There is a special chance to win a  GIFT for Readathon Members only :

Do you like to read Holiday Themed books? If so are there any you like to re-read every year?

Only when I taught pre-school did I read any books that were of geared toward specifically toward the holiday - and I enjoyed reading them to my students. My favorite had to be The Magic Dreidels by Eric Kimmel, illustrated by Katya Krenina

What are some of your favorite Holiday Traditions?

Lighting the menorah and watching it glow in our window. Making potato pancakes (latkes) and eating them! Yummmm! And the latest has been our community-wide Menorah parade. Seventy-five cars line up with menorahs and drive from downtown Milwaukee through the suburbs. It's quite the experience to see such an amazing parade with lights.
I know you love books :) But what other type of presents do you like to receive ?

Wow, this is a tough one. Truthfully, it is much easier for me to give than to receive. :) If I had to choose, I would say Starbucks gift cards. I admit that I'm a soy mocha addict!
What book or books would you really like to get this year?

The list is long, so I'll go for total fantasy wish list! I would love to get my hands on the ARCs for the following YA novels (no particular order!) Kimberly Derting's book, Desires of the Dead. I loved, loved, loved the first one in the series - The Body Finder. Simone Elkele's Chain Reaction, the third book in The Perfect Chemistry Series - Simone is one of my most favorite authors. Delirium by Lauren Oliver - Before I Die was brilliant! Finally, Crossing Lines by the King of YA Urban Fiction - Paul Volponi. His award-winning novels are inspiring and powerful. I deeply admire him.

I hadn't heard of Mother Night, but that was pretty intersting. Thanks for sharing it. ^_^

Loved the mini interview of Liza. The parade sounds like it would be a pretty cool sight to see. ^_^

I have wanted Angel Star...since forever lol. Angel Star is a book I know I would love and reread again and again, but I still haven't had the chance to read it!

I like your list too. The Body Finder was one of the best YA books out there. Loved it!

I love to read dystopian YA books, so my wishlist includes books like Across the Universe, Bumped, Wither, Awaken, and Drought. I love to read about worlds gone wrong. I don't really know why, but this is definitely what makes up the majority of my wishlist.

Thanks for asking and for the giveaway!

Hmmm...well to be honest my wish list includes my favorite book "Jane Eyre". I recently lent a teen friend of my sister's my favorite copy...trying to promote reading the classics with others! I'm a librarian so I can't help but want to share books. However so far this one has not made it back and I love reading it a few times a year. Sounds like a new copy is in order! Thanks for the interview with Liza and the mini-challenge giveaway!

Thanks for the great giveaway! A few books on my wishlist are: Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler, Going Bovine by Libba Bray and The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I keep reading them from the library and they are ones I'd actually like to own at some point.
