12 Days Day 4: Feast Of Fools w/Giveaway!

Welcome to Day 4 of the 12 Days of Christmas!

The Fourth Day of Christmas is Traditionally celebrated on December 29th This day was called :

The Feast Of Fools

On this day the normal order of things was ceremonially reversed. In the medieval world much gaiety was limited in deference to the Church and the desire to live a pious life. On this day even the Church suspended its strictest rules. This celebration encouraged gaiety and was even celebrated in the court of King Henry VIII.

On this day a servant could rule there masters, A fool could dare to sit on a kings throne and woman could play "The Warrior" and enjoy a measure of Independence that was restricted in normal day to day life.

The importance of the qualities of The Fool have survived throughout history in the images of the Tarot and in the legend Perceval and The Holy Grail. Perceval's innocence, devotion and desire to heal his King led him to accomplish what older, wiser and more experienced Knights of the Round Table failed at.

To celebrate this and the joy and letting go the energy of the fool brings I invite you all to do something fun today! Play, Read a Fairy Tale, Jump on the Bed, or twirl until your dizzy!!! =)

My plan for today is to have pancakes for breakfast and play a game of jacks on the kitchen floor!

I sang christmas songs to my son. Since I can't carry a tune, this was really foolish.

Today I shall turn the tv to music choice, and dance around the living room like an idiot, just because there is room to do so.

Today I fought with bees and ran halfway across a field like a mad person while trying to pick pecans from the tree. Then I almost electrocuted myself putting up Christmas lights. Thanks old lights. Bzzzz buzzzzit.

I was running up and down the hall with a string so my cat could chase it and I tripped over another cat toy and fell. Luckily I didn't get hurt!

Everyday I generally manage to do something foolish (aka fun). Today I did a great round of dancing around the living room and kitchen to 80's songs with my toddler...always a good time! We do it daily but lately...we have been doing Holiday music!

Last week we had a lot of rain and while I was doing some shopping in the morning I noticed a packet of unpopped popcorn on the supermarket shelf.

No we are empty nester as my son and daughter no longer live at home.

When they did, they often used to buy microwave popcorn to nibble on while they watched CD's/DVDs in the living room.

So I bought one of the packets and took it home.

In the after noon I decided to make the popcorn for hubby and me.

Not having popcorn for a very long time, I just put oil in a big pot and emptied the corn into it when the oil was hot.

Long story short, I ended up with enough popcorn to fill half a dozen dumper trucks.

Even the dogs are now sick of eating popcorn !

I'm not a blond but the hubby tells me I must be an undercover blond.

The last foolish thing I remember doing was completely blanking out on the word 'motorcycle.' I was playing Trivial Pursuit with my husband, and I could picture it in my head, but couldn't come up with the word. I said bike, and he asked what kind of bike. After racking my brain, I said, 'you know, a vroom vroom bike.' He asked what kind of bike that was. 'You know, this kind (I made a revving motion with my wrists), not this kind (I pedaled with my legs).' At the end of all that he still had to tell me what it was called.

The last foolish thing... well, the last idiotic and scary thing I did:
Somehow I accidentally hit/programmed the radio's timer one afternoon and it went on in the middle of night. I just lay awake in my bedroom, heart racing, hearing the sound of the radio from the next room (no one was at home I have to say!)and thinking of how I could possibly fight a horror-movie-like serial killer! After minutes of fear I got up and noticed no one was there and it was just the stupid timer or my stupid finger that scared the bejesus out of me!

The last foolish thing I did was baking a load of chocolate chip oatmeal cookies and leaving them cool off on the counter while I went to the post office. When I got home my dad had eaten half of the load and was trying to rearrange the remaining cookies in such a manner I wouldn't notice that half of the cookies was missing! :-D Foolish of me to leave any dessert or food unattended when my dad is near :-D LOL

Thank you for the great giveaway too!

When I was on the phone with a college counselor or something, I was saying something like "based on how good they are" or something, but not exactly that way. But I couldn't find the right word, and I completely blanked LOL, and she kept waiting for my to say the word -__- How embarassing.

Thank you anyway :D
