12 Days Day 5 : Holiday Cookies and Bringing in the Boar!

Welcome to Day 5 Of 12 Days. Traditionally the 5th Day of Christmas was celebrated on December 30th. On this day a Boar was brought in to provide the meat for the Holiday Feast. Even despite the fact that the boar was virtually extinct there was a general fascination with songs and legends surrounding the boar hunt tradition.

Today one of the traditional hallmarks of the holiday season are cookies! Thank goodness they aren't extinct! My mother was a wonderful cook, this was her favorite cook book and her favorite recipe for Sugar Cookies:

I love Sugar Cookies. they are my favorite cookie of the season. I especially like decorating them with sprinkles and those little silver candy balls :)

Today I have an interview with one of my favorite bloggers Arena of The Nerds Wife

Arena has a wonderful blog that combines her family life, book reviews and adventures with her husband James. They are such a cute couple =)

Here is the Interview:

Do you like to read Holiday Themed Books? If so are there any you re-read every year?

I don't really read holiday-specific books --

I mostly just keep reading whatever is in my TBR pile. :)

What are your favorite Holiday traditions?

I love decorating the Christmas tree and baking holiday treats with my family. We always open our Christmas stockings first thing in the morning, which is one of my favorite things. My parents always went all-out on our stockings and that's a tradition we've carried on in our own family. We even have stockings for our puppies, Georgie and Kaylee!

I know you love books :) what other type of presents do you like to receive?

This year, I asked for a new camera and laptop bag. I'd also really love a fish-eye lens for my camera or a Le Creuset dutch oven. We'll see what The Nerd comes up with! :)

What book or books are on your holiday wish list this year?

Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card, Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins, Fallen and Torment by Lauren Kate.

Arena is also doing a Christmas Cookie Event:
