Review/ GIVEAWAY MIND OVER MONSTERS by JENNIFER HARLOW

One of my favorite publishers is Llewellyn. I requested this review copy from one of their imprints
Midnight Ink. So of course I wanted this book because of the Zombies but it actually is so much more than that. School teacher Beatrice Alexander has brought way to much attention to herself. Her secret ability to move objects with her mind has just been "outed" as she uses it to save one of her young students lives. Before you can say "Professor X", Beatrice is approached by the mysterious Dr. Black who offers her a chance to learn to control her powers and be a part of FREAKS: Federal Response to Extra-Sensory and Kindred Supernaturals. Soon she is in a swank mansion, with other kindred creatures, well sort of . There is an overly sexually aggressive Vampire, a young teleporter, a girl who can literally be on fire a Medium and a sweet hunky werewolf.

Soon the team is on their first mission an infestation of ZOMBIES! I really enjoyed this book . Beatrice is a smart sometimes snarky lead that I found myself laughing at and feeling emotionally bonded to. there are a lot of different personalities on the team that kind of get a little lost in this first novel but Beatrice anchors the story and the rest of the team.

I love the world Jenifer has created and its a great set up for future books and encounters with more preternatural creatures. I read this book in a day and really enjoyed it. the zombies are a little unique but still terrifying :)
