Review: Grandpa Won't Wake Up by Hill & Wheeler

Growing up the Little Golden Books were a joy to read. They were just the right size for my little hands, brightly illustrated, and the foundation of my love for reading :)

Grandpa won't wake up is wicked little adult read that incorporates my nostalgic memories with my enjoyment of dark horror.

Two little kids anxious for their promised playtime with Grandpa are distressed to find him "asleep". Thus begins a series of actions to wake Grandpa: they paint his nails green with paint, put him on a trampoline , dress him in Nazi clothes and fishnets um yeah you get the idea right?

Simon Max Hill's prose will make you laugh, shake you head and leave you uncomfortably silent! Shannon Wheeler is a marvelous artist. The gorgeous watercolor and four color illustrations are reminiscent of beloved childhood classics. This pair has a deal to produce more books for Boom in the future and I can't wait to see what's next. Priced at 7.99 this is a wonderful deal and dark twisted fun.
