800th POST!! Thoughts on Blogging, Plagarism, & What's Next

I was about to tackle some reviews when I noticed I was at 799 posts! Wow! If someone would have told me two years ago that I would be putting my thoughts out there for the world to read and judge I would have laughed!

So thank you to everyone who has helped encourage me to keep plugging on. Now that I've started blogging I have no plans to stop!

If you are a blogger who is aware of The StorySiren you will know the last couple of days have been intense. I was truly shocked. Emotions have run high and I've noticed a lot of negative comments towards Kristi that have saddened me.

Kristi was one of the key bloggers who inspired me to start my own blog. The past couple of days I've found myself thinking about her. Yes her explanations left me a bit confused but , I managed to keep my thoughts to myself.

I understand both sides of the issue but it's not my place to judge. Instead I have chosen action over attack. I've dropped  my subscription from Kristi's blog, and will no longer participate in the Debut Author Challenge. I don't know what the future holds, but for now I cannot support any blog that has been caught stealing content. I will always have the deepest gratitude for all I've learned from Kristi. I wish her all the best.

THE FUTURE: What's Next ? THE FUTURE :) I'll confess there has been times when I've compared my blog to others, wished that I received the large amount of books they have, or  had the same number of followers and contacts.  However looking at where I am at this moment in time, I am very pleased with my Blog . I want to grow, but only at a pace that I can sustain without losing my love for the blogging life.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and all your support! Off to post 801!

This is the first I'm hearing of all the controversy. I have never followed her blog because in the first few months of being a new blogger back in 2009, she started a big thing on Twitter about the dos and don'ts of book blogging. Not that there is anything wrong with that, in a sense, but the 'discussions' that followed on her blog made myself and a couple of my other newbie blogging friends feel inadequate. And many of the things that were brought up as no-nos are things I regularly receive compliments on at my blog. So, I can't really form an opinion of her and her blog, except based on that one previous experience. I will say thought that plagiarism is wrong and I think you have made the right decision in your reaction to the debacle.

Congratulations on your 800th post! I was stopping by to see how you were doing on the read-a-thon and saw your post. I know you are so proud. Yeah, it's nice having followers, etc., but the most important thing is that we continue to have fun.

Speaking about fun, how ARE you doing with the read-a-thon? I know you're probably reading a bunch. I hope you're enjoying it this week. Reading anything scary?

Congrats on your 800th post! I know exactly what you mean about the jealousy aspect, but I think your attitude toward it is perfect. I feel the same way--I want to keep enjoying blogging while also building relationships with other bloggers.
