MINI-CHALLENGES

HOOK of a Book is hosting some great mini-challenges:

Challenge 5: Author Keith Rommel is challenging us to write!

Here is the starter Sentence: I know it's a little strange that I carry this around with me, but...

A dollar bill. it's folded into a tiny square. It rests in my wallet, always. Many a time I've needed an extra buck, a bit of change, but I've never touched this dollar and I never will. It is special and I will not say why :)

CHALLENGE 4: THE THEME OF THIS CHALLENGE IS SURVIVAL

IF YOU WERE TO HEAD TO THE WILDERNESS OF THE NORTH EAST UNITED STATES OR CANADA (THINK REMOTE, DESOLATE) and HAD TO CAMP IN THE FOREST, WHAT WOULD YOU TAKE? IT PROBABLY IS A REMOTE VILLAGE, RESERVATION, OR CAMP. YOU’VE HEARD IT MIGHT BE HAUNTED.

NAME AT LEAST 10 THINGS YOU’D TAKE WITH YOU TO SURVIVE THE TRIP. YOU’LL BE CAMPING THERE FOR 5 DAYS. Get an entry for each thing you list up to 10.

  1. Wood Matches
  2. Stainless Steel water bottle with built in filter
  3. duffel bag with warm clothes
  4. survival manual
  5. knife
  6. Tent
  7. lantern
  8. box of food
  9. pick up truck full of gas and close to campsite
  10. a big burly friend to protect me!

CHALLENGE 3

I'd have to say Zombie Fiction

3.) What do you want to see more from writers in the HORROR field?

Hmm. More strong female protagonists

4.) Favorite HORROR movie and why?

Hellraiser. It stands the test of time and has a strong female lead who isn't half naked, running around screaming or making dumb decisions.

5.) Favorite HORROR authors and why?

Stephen King , Clive Barker, Jonathan Maberry all gifted writers with great characters,

6.) What other elements do you like in your HORROR books (mystery, thriller, romance, historical, etc.)?

English horror movies or fiction are my favorite as well.

7.) What is you favorite HORROR book of all time?

Clive Barkers The Books of Blood

8.) What do you like most about this Spring into Horror read-a-thon?

Making time to read and connect with fellow readers.

9.) Why do you think people read HORROR?
For the thrill and escapism, also feeds that what if? Senario.

Their smart!

10.) Your favorite name of a character in a HORROR book?

Molly :)

EXTRA ENTRIES:

I'm a twitter follower!

You’ll get +1 extra entry to follow me on Twitter at @ErinAlMehairi, if you haven’t yet.

CHALLENGE 2

Stephen King Challenge:

I have one book of Stephen's on my shelf: The Stand

CHALLEGE ONE
The first is to discuss a book we are reading and why. I've got plenty to choose from but I'm really excited for Nevermore by Kelly Creagh.

It's has elements concerning Edgar Allen Poe, Ravens and what looks like a thrilling romance. Looking forward to diving into it. Happy reading everyone!

What a great pile of books! I really need to read Clockwork Prince, and Nevermore sounds so good. Can't wait to read about your progress! Both Ten and Possess look good too!

Great list, Kai! I bet you finish a good chunk of them too. You're such a power reader. =O)

Have fun reading! I'll be checking in again.

Woah, think some of that is out of order, but it's ok, I got the jest. You're sure reading alot. I find it hard to read enough with little ones, plus doing all this blogging for the challenges. But I have enjoyed setting them all up for you guys. I like your survey questions, thanks so much for being a part of it!

Wow, you did amazing :)
I'm planning to read something relaxing this week, because I almost over-read myself for the read-a-thon ;) Probably some funny contemporary romance :)
