REVIEW: Handbook for Hot Witches by Dame Darcy

PUBLISHER:
It's been fascinating seeing how Witches have come to the forefront of paranormal fiction. Equally fascinating has been the resurgence of women becoming interested in the history of witchcraft. I was really intrigued when I saw this ARC at ALA so I grabbed a copy.
This book is aimed at teens but I really found a lot to connect with in this book. The focus of the book is finding your inner creative muse. The book begins with a series of quizzes to determine what type of Witch you are :)
From there the book branches off into different activities that bring out the best in yourself, as well as educating the reader on the celebratory traditions of the past. I was surprised to discover I was a Bard. Bard's love to express themselves through writing , music, dance, reading and study !!!
There are some spells in this book but I found many of them to be more focused on personal power and crafts. There are also some really great craft recipes. I'm looking forward to making some of the products like lip gloss and soap .
A really fun read and an insight into astrology and mythology .

This one sounds good. I like books that help teens (and women) claim their power.
Great review, Kai! I've always been interested in witchcraft. I may have to get me a copy of this.

I created a linky for reviews if you want to link up: http://castlemacabre.blogspot.com/2012/10/season-of-witch-witchy-mini-reading.html

I added your books to the prize page. You are so generous, girl! I responded to your Twitter message too.
