As Christmas draws nearer, we start to think of the shopping we have to do, the presents we have to buy, the things we have to wrap, and how totally over-budget we are going to be by January 1st. Even though we know we are slipping deeper and deeper into a personal deficit, we keep right on buying because we can imagine the joy and happiness on the faces of those we love. With this year’s economy being what it is, I thought this would be a wonderful time to make a few suggestions for gifts that will be truly memorable and won’t break the budget.

HERE ARE FIVE GIFTS OF LOVE THAT COSTS LITTLE BUT CREATES BIG MEMORIES…
1) Cookies or candy that you’ve made yourself – I do gingerbread men decorated to look like the person I’m giving them to (glasses, curly hair, etc)

2) Something you have sewn yourself – ideas include a barbeque apron for him, a jewelry travel pouch for her. Easy, easy stuff to make. One year I did Mother/Daughter aprons and they were the hit of the season.

3) A Make it yourself calendar with each month featuring a family photo, or if it’s for your sweetie, photos of the two of you doing fun stuff together. Add in personal reminders, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. This is always a favorite because it’s a year-round reminder of your love.

4) Give a pre-programed digital Christmas Ornament – you can find them on sale for under ten dollars and then just add favorite family pictures, or snaps of Christmases gone by. Guaranteed this gift will be hung smack in the center of the tree for all to enjoy.

5) Pick up a pet at an animal rescue center, tie a red ribbon around its neck and give it to your special someone. By rescuing an animal, you’ll be both giving and getting love. A pet is a lifetime reminder of your love and open-hearted generosity. And, it’s a gift that never stops giving.

12 Days Holiday Romance :Cupid's Christmas by Bette Lee Crosby

PUBLISHER:
Brent Pine Publishing

Who knew poor Cupid had to work so hard?! Let go of those misconceptions that all it takes is a well placed arrow. In Cupids Christmas we meet two of Cupid's charges : John and Eleanor. Cupid has been working on these two for quite some time. Since their college days the potential for love has been a possibility between the two.

Eleanor's choice in colleges temporarily closed that possibility for them both. So the two parted found other loves, had families and also lived through the deaths of those spouses. Now here they are in their golden years once again in love.

Their only obstacles? Two adult children filled with suspicion and personal pain that blocks them from accepting that their parents are moving on.

Lindsay Gray John's daughter is the larger of the two problems. Oh Lindsay I shook my head right along with the very frustrated Cupid. In a matter of days Lindsay looses her job, love and apartment. It is all apart of the grand plan of the Life Management department. Lindsay understandably is upset yet when she returns home to stay with her father her anger turns to jealously and outrage at the happiness her father has found.

So now Cupid must fight to keep Eleanor and John together help Eleanor's son heal his angry heart and lead Lindsay to a love that is worthy of her.

I really liked Cupid's narrative voice in this book, he is a bit snarky, very stressed by Lindsay's choices and yet maneuvers situations that fulfill his charges and his ultimate goal: To find them love.

There were a few unexpected twists in this book and a heartwarming conclusion that will warm your heart .

Thanks to Bette for the opportunity to read this book. Share a comment for a chance to win The 12 Days Grand Prize.
