May The 4th Be With You! Advanced Review; Shakespeare's Star Wars by Ian Doescher

Good Morning! May the 4th Be With You! This is my second year celebrating Star Wars Day on my blog. For those who aren't familiar, the event started once Star Wars fans noticed the similarity in the following phrases:

May the Fourth
and
 May the Force....

That's all it took to turn it from a yearly saying to an international event! Social Media has helped the event to grow and connect fans across the globe. To learn more about it click HERE

PUBLISHER:
Quirk Books

When Quirk books announced the opportunity to win a copy of this book I squealed!  And when I won? Fangirl squeals ensued :) One of the wonderful things about the Star Wars universe is the variety of Expanded Universe opportunities in all media.

In this book aauthor Ian Doescher adds a heavy dose of Shakespeare to the classic saga. And it works! From the traditional chorus interpreting the famous scrawl to Artoo finally getting a chance to "speak" his mind fans will chuckle their way through this reinterpretation.

This does not mean the book is a farce by any means, in fact it is taken quite seriously. Ian smartly stays true to the original script but he also adds some nice touches like R2's inner monologue, C3PO's offstage confession to how much he really cares for the little blue droid, and Luke's long convincing speech that inspires Han to rescue a certain princess.

There are also some really cool illustrations. A quick, enjoyable read! I'm looking forward to the talented young theater groups that will  turn this script into a live performance!

Look for this book July 2nd !
