Review: The Holder's Dominion by Genese Davis

PUBLISHER:

I was really intrigued by this book because of it's female protagonist and the subject matter. My gaming experience starts and ends with Angry Birds but I have a lot of online friends who are really into Warcraft, Skyrim and other games.

So I really was interested in reading a novel that took place in a virtual world. For Kaylie the word is Edannair.
Kaylie is a college student in Austin who has had a difficult few months. Fleeing from home after her fathers death she is trying to adjust to college life while also dealing with feelings of guilt over leaving her family at such a difficult time.

One day Kaylie comes across her friend muttering to himself about a morphis in a convenience store. Confused yet intrigued Kaylie follows up with Elliot and learns about the world of Edannair and begins playing the game.

Genese does a great job of explaining the game as the reader follows Kaylie through every step of the game. Once inside Kaylie learns more about the mysterious Holder and the tasks he paces on others in the real and virtual world. It isn't long before Kaylie comes under his notice and a threat to him.

There were a lot of qualities I liked in this book. Mostly the female lead and the world of Edannair. The pacing and action in the book were good, but none of the characters really made a huge impression on me. The scenes that were supposed to evoke strong emotions from the reader didn't effect me strongly because I wasn't really connected to the characters.

Other than that it is a very straightforward read that shows a glimpse into the gaming world and its attractive qualities to players.

Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance
from an established blog. Is it very hard to
set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I'm thinking about creating my
own but I'm not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? With thanks

Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the book in it
or something. I think that you can do with a few pics to drive the message
home a bit, but instead of that, this is great blog.
An excellent read. I'll certainly be back.
