This was an interesting read because it takes place after Ellie James’s novel Shattered Dreams. The main character Marguerite, (not her real name) is working with her friend Harmony in the French Quarter. Marguerite is a card reader and a psychic. She has been working as a card reader but when the story starts she is calling it a day due to a storm. She takes her friend Harmony’s afternoon job as a tourist at a local graveyard.

Marguerite feels a strange sensitivity at one of the houses and cuts the tour short. when she goes inside the house she is confronted by a dark force and a boy who has haunted her dreams.

I really was able to connect with Marguerite in this short story. I enjoyed the location and the paranormal element. I’m looking forward to learning more about the character.
