Marvel Monday : Empire Of The Dead by Romero & Maeev

This is one of those books that make me glad I gave the Trade Paperback a chance after not really enjoying the first issue.

This story takes place in a world that has fallen due to the Zombie Apocalypse. Humanity pretty much has the same desires: Food, Drink, Entertainment. The Mayor of the city gives it to them. And in return the citizens bleed for the Mayor and his cronies. Literally. The rulers of the city are Vampires and the sate them selves on the population.

It's an arrangement that must remain secret. A lone scientist that is trying to study the zombies comes across one with rudimentary intelligence and a young boy that knows the secrets of the desolated parts of the city.

I really loved the plot elements and the vibrant art. As a Zombie fan there were many things to love in this book. I suggest potential readers follow the trade format since the story can drag in some places.

HallowReads Batman: Catwoman's Halloween Heist

DC comics capstone books are so much fun! I did a search for Halloween versions for Hallowreads and found this book. The story centers on Barbara Gordon who  is invited last minute to her crushes big Halloween party, but she has promised Bruce she will keep an eye on Tim Drake.

Then Barbara gets the idea to take Tim with her. The pair take advantage of Halloween night to show up at the party in full costume. Unfortunately for the party host he has a very expensive cat statue on display, one Catwoman can't resist.

With Batman off on other crimes its up to Barbara and Tim to save the day without exposing the fact that they are real superheroes. It was a nice change of pace to see the sidekicks in charge. A fun read.
