12 Days Day 3: Zen Your Holiday

Zen Your Holiday

Every year I find my clients are more and more stressed. It's either traveling, hosting relatives or even being overwhelmed with social gatherings and shopping.

So how can you break this cycle?

Yoga & Meditation

December is a great time to give yoga a try. Lots of studios offer free clases or special workshops. There are even Family yoga classes where the whole family can practice together.

Visit Yoga Journal.com to find a studio in your area.

The image above is from the website Stop Breathe Think.org This is an amazing app that provides guided meditataions from five to twenty five minutes long.

There is also a great walking meditation on this app to keep you grounded during busy times.

Tea & Company

Schedule some time with a good friend and have a cup of tea, a drink or even a milkshake! But there is one rule, DON'T talk about anything negative. Agree to only talk about the good: A new movie you loved or a book, a happy memory from the past. Though venting to a friend can feel good at times, often it will reve up our stress level deconstructing things that bother us.

Remember What you Love & Do It!

Everyone has something they love about the holiday season. For me it's shopping for a new ornament or seeing a Holiday Play. Whatever it is you love make it a priority.

Get A Massage Or Facial

Not only will massage or a Facial relax your muscles but it's also a blessed hour of relaxation just for you.

Hope this tips help you get more relaxation into your Holiday routine.

12 Days Gift Suggestion: Good Night Yoga by Gates & Hinder

This is a beautifully illustrated primer on basic yoga poses for children and adults.

In each page the reader is introduced to a yoga pose appropriate to do before bedtime. I enjoyed seeing many racially diverse children in the book , and that the author had researched the proper way to do each pose. The art in this book is so atmospheric. You can feel the relaxation  through tge pages!
I also enjoyed the bedtime meditation at the end of the book.

Children take to yoga very easily and this book can be a great evening ritual to help them relax and prepare for sleep.

Star Wars Memories 3: Comics

Comic books were another way readers were able to bring the world of Star Wars home. My first comic was the oversized treasury below. I read this book until it was in tatters and hung all the pinups on my walls.

After the initial 6 issues that made up the movie adaption the comic continued with all new adventures. These were the wild days before the Empire Strikes Back was confirmed so Luke and company had some pretty amazing adventures that were contadicted once Empire came to theaters.

Now things are completely different in the comic book world. As of 2015 all comics being released by Marvel are considered canon. That means across the board : movies, video games, animation are all on the same page story wise. So if a character from a novel turns up in a comic, everthing about their life and history will be the same.

The new comics are fantastic! Though I'm not a big fan of the Star Wars ongoing I do love Shatered Empire, Kanan,Vader and the Lando series.

The new Star Wars comics also broke sales records in 2015 due to the enormous amount of variant covers each title had. I'm so excited to see what stories are coming in 2016 and beyond.
