The Poet's Dog by Patricia Maclachlan

This is a lovely little read about two young children who find haven from a winter storm,  at a cabin in the woods. The only occupant of the cabin is a large black dog named Teddy.
Teddy isn't a normal dog. He has been raised by a poet. Read to, written about, inspired. So much so that Teddy now can talk, and those with a poetical bent can hear him too.
Flora nickle and Teddy spend several days together weathering the storm and learning about Teddy and The Poet's life together, and learn  why Teddy is now on his own.
This is a lovely book. Full of poignant quotes and beautiful moments. It was such a joy to discover this. A lovely story about love and friendship
