Review: Star Wars Allegiance Issue 1

Journey To Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker - Allegiance (2019) #1 (of 4)

Creators:
Ethan Sacks, Luke Ross, Lee Loughridge, VC's Clayton Cowles

There are a lot of threads that need to be tied up in Episode IX, and the foundation of them is explored in the first issue of this weekly series
.
The design of this book is reminiscent of the very first issue of the Star Wars Comic from several years ago. A solid page devoted to the familiar  A long time ago...  two pages to the  words Star Wars in the large orange  font, followed with a scrawl page titled An Old Hope.

The story opens with a peaceful ice planet getting destroyed by Hux and the First Order because they supplied aide to The Resistance after the events on Crait.

We then check in with our heroes on the Garbage Planet of Anoat. The priority of the Resistance is to get supplies and allies. We learn that Poe, Finn and Bb-8 are on a mission to get weapons, and the climax of this first issue involves Rey, Leia and Rose going on a mission to Mon Cala.

What I loved most about this comic is the little Easter eggs. Like mentions of Vi Moradi and Snap Wexly, and learning that Anoat was briefly mentioned in the Empire Strikes The art team is fantastic and it's nice to see the characters having adventures together, especially the Ladies.

It will be interesting to see how much this story relates to the movie in December. A wonderful start to the series.

Fangirl Journeys: Triple Force Friday 2019

Star Wars Triple Force Friday Locations
I've been quite vocal about the lack of info and hype for this years TFF event. The live unboxing event really got me excited because there are some amazing  toys. But then I remembered how distribution has been a huge disappointment. So my journeys began with watching the twitter feed of the super helpful Yak Face  I was able to order this from Target online:

This morning I went to target and was as underwhelming as expected. Target didn't do a midnight opening and didn't even bother to have the display set up in advance. So basically when I walked in with a few fans at 8 am nothing was on shelves. I waited and they put out some Black series so I got these :

Hot Topic and Box Lunch were also lucky stops for me :

Now I'm just hoping all my online orders went through. I'm really glad this trilogy is wrapping up because it has been one of the MOST FRUSTRATING  EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD TRYING TO GIVE A COMPANY MY MONEY!!!  I realize that a big part of what I enjoy about collecting is buying toys in store. With Toy's R US no longer in business and my area in Southern California being one of the worst apparently It's just to tiring to get excited about an event and finding out retailers don't give a damn about them.

I'm really grateful to those that share info online and it looks like going forward I will be shopping at Hasbro Pulse exclusively for figures. An end of an era but at least I can continue collecting what I love.

I din't have Hulu last year so I missed the inaugural Huluween but I'm starting out strong with the this years events. Today I streamed season one of freakish about a group of teens trapped in a high school after a chemical plant explosion, I really loved the diverse cast in this show and how there is a lot of problem solving vs teenagers screaming and running.
