31 DAYS Day :10 My Three Witches! WINNER!!!

THANKS FOR ALL THE ENTRIES!!! THE WINNER IS:

Melissa

THEIR ARE STILL A FEW GREAT CONTESTS GOING ON AND MORE COMING NEXT WEEK :)

This is the last day of my celebration of Witches! Today I want to profile Three series that I've really been enjoying, two that I've been reading for a while and one that I  just recently started:

This is the first three volumes of the now 8 + volume series. Kim's series was the second series i read with witches after the three sisters trilogy. Set in a world after the "turn" the supernatural element has now outed itself to the human community. Vampires, Werewolves, Pixies and Faeries and of course witches are now a part of the world community. Rachel Morgan is a bounty hunter. With her Vampire Partner Ivy and her Pixie partner Jenks she supports herself by helping to catch the criminal element of her supernatural world. Kim Harrison is an amazing writer. Her stories are filled with action, Horror and romance. What I enjoy most about this series is how much Rachel has grown through the series. She has lost lovers, friends and even her free will through dealings with Demons. Jenks and Ivy are also a huge part of the series and have become just as prominent as Rachel. If you haven't tried this series yet I highly suggest you do! The first book had some slow bits in it but by the second book Kim is in fine form and the series only gets better from there.

I discovered  Kelly through her books Bitten and Stolen, Ill be reviewing those for werewolf week :) Paige the Witch in Dime store Magic was first introduced in Stolen. I was very impressed with how Kelly adder other characters to the mix without losing focus on the main character in this book : Elena. Paige is a young rebellious witch who is anxious to break away from the restrictive rules of the older members in her Coven. She also is responsible for a young girl whose growing magical powers are wanted by forces dark and light.

This series has now grown to include over 12 books and is collectively called The Women of the Otherworld Series . I'm only up to book 3 but I'm enjoying them immensely. there are several different narrative voices in the series and all the characters are well written and interesting.

I found this series on Paperback Swap
http://www.paperbackswap.com/

I ordered the first four in the series based on the covers and the great reviews on the site. I enjoyed the first one, but found the narrative style a little lacking. This might be due to the fact that it's the first in a 6 book series.I really enjoyed the first half of the book a lot it had a great set up and quickly introduced Maggie O'Neill to her new boss Felicity and the store Enchantments. It lagged a little for me in the middle and I also thought Madelyn went a little overboard with pointing out the discrimination of those against witches and Wicca. I only mention this because the style of this book and its cover is very "Chick Lit" . These means it may appeal to a very mainstream audience that may be a little turned off about the continued preachings of intolerance to Wiccan's. I'd hate for that to happen since Madelyn has a great opportunity with this series to entertain AND inform. The great thing about PBS though is I was able to use 4 of my credits to get the first four books in the series for less than what one book alone would cost. Im looking forward to reading the other three and seeing how the series progresses.

I've read the first book of Kim's series and I have to agree that it dragged at first but was a good read. But... my copy is a UK edition which has the ugliest cover ever! It's yellow! Yellow!! It made my eyes ache!! Here take a look: http://www.cherrymischievous.com/2010/09/review-dead-witch-walking.html.

I sooo need to bump up Bitten in my TBR pile :)

wow, you're brave for buying more than 1 book of a series at a time, I'm usually incredibly cautious when reading series
don't mind owning the first book and never buying more, but if I don't like a series I usually just give up with #1

please enter me in the giveaway! thanks!
