Read Sherlock Review: Watson And Holmes A Study In Black

One of the amazing things about Sherlock Holmes Univers of stories is not only do they stand the test of time, but the characters and situations also are highly adaptable into other forms of books and media.

Like this graphic novel by New Paradigm Studios. In this particular version Watson and Holmes encounter each other in a Harlem emergency room where a young man has recently been admitted as a possible drug overdose. The man whispers to Holmes "They took her" and  the game is afoot!

As Holmes and Watson go on a mission to find the missing girl, the step into a larger mystery concerning missing children. This story has a very urban flavor but shows how the fundamental themes of the Holmes stories: Intelligence, Friendship and Mystery, defy , race .gender and ethnicity. It is wonderful that these creators took the essence of Holmes and Watson and wonderfully merged them into a POC cast. I'm excited to read volume 2.
