12 Days Of Christmas Review: The Knights Of Christmas

I look forward to reading Holiday Themed books every year and romances are one of my favorites. The Knights of Christmas was published by Harlequin Historical in 1997. It might take a little hunting find it but its worth it!

Kara's Gift by Suzanne Barclay

Duncan MacLellan is a Christian Soldier on his way home after three years in the Crusades he is anxious to get home and to his fiancee Janet who he hasn't see in three years. Fighting a fever he is attacked by an evil highlands clan called the MacGorys.

He is rescued by Kara Gleanedin a pagan healer whose clan is at War with the Macgorys. Kara is not surprised to see Duncan, she has seen him in a vision and knows he is the man meant to save her people and soothe her lonely heart.

Duncan however has other plans, he wants to leave the valley and Kara as soon as possible. However he is forced to stay with the clan while his wounds heal and until his missing jewels are returned to him.

Kara and Duncan's tale is very romantic. It is hard for Kara to reconcile the Duncan of her vision with the surly, judgemental man who wants nothing to do with her or her clan. I felt so deeply connected with Kara and even the surly Duncan. Watching Duncan change his opinion of Kara and her clan was delightful. Duncan is a man of deep passions and as that energy turns towards Kara a strong love develops between them. But Duncan is not totally free and I found myself anxious to see how their story would turn out . A very satisfying and romantic story.

The Twelfth Day Of Christmas

Margaret Moore is my favorite Historical romance author and this novella is her at her best.

Lady Giselle requests a boon of her uncle: the right to refuse any man who is a candidate to be her betrothed. She has excellent timing as her Uncle has picked Sir Myles Buxton as her intended. Their first meeting is less than romantic but Myles is determined. He launches a campaign on Giselle's heart the goal to gain her assent by the end of the holiday season. This is a fun romantic tale.Poor Myles! Self-proclaimed "most marriageable man in England" is quite at a loss on how to deal with the resistant Giselle. It is rare for me in romances to be fully engaged with the male protagonist. I enjoyed Giselle and her wish for independence I was really rooting for Myles a handsome man not used to rejection. It was a merry chase with these two and a satisfying conclusion.

A Wish For Noel

Deborah Simmons is another favorite Historical Fiction author of mine. This is a wonderful romance that really showcases the early traditions of the holiday season.
Benedick Villiers is a war worn soldier for hire returning to his keep for the winter. He wants quiet and relaxation but finds his ward Noel Amery has transformed his keep. Noel has kept a vigil at Benedict's keep waiting for his eventual return. Noel has loved Benedict since she was 12 and her dream has always been to be his wife. The Benedict who returns though is scarred inside and out . It will take all of Noel's love and a special Christmas wish to make her hopes come true.

Deborah really breathes life into the characters in this story. I was really rooting for Noel and I really enjoyed the description of the holiday feasts and games.

This is a wonderful anthology for Historical Romance fans, they really put me in the holiday spirit. :)

Having participated in this years holiday reading challenge I'm already searching for inspiration for next year and this sounds ideal even though I don't usually read short stories or romances come to that. Thanks for the recommendation.
