Review: Bone Vol 6 Jeff Smith

 

 

                                                                  

   This chapter is a pivotal point in the series that leads up to an epic battle. As Fone Bone and Phoney Bone return to the valley they find it in shambles. The rats hav overrun the village and destroyed many of the homes. Fone is reunited with Thorn and finds out that Phoncible Bone is at the center of the problem. Thorn refuses to go to Old Mans Cave so Fone and Phoney follow her to a hideout near the farm.

All the elements from the prior volumes come into play in this action packed volume. There are some definite shocks and twists in this volume but I am always amazed how Jeff can portray so much action with very little violence. He also has a wonderful sense of comedy. At the height of the dramatic tension towards the end of this volume an "omen" concerning Phoncible is revealed and it's hilarious! This volume also has a bit of dark foreshadowing that I'm looking forward to learning more about.

Another stellar volume in this series.
