Review: Betty Bunny Loves Chocolate Cake

Betty Bunny is a gorgeously illustrated book Stephan`e Jorisch is an amazing artist and this Bunny family is very well realised. Kaplan does a great job with the narrative and dialogue. Every thing about Betty reflects a young child. The  way she moves and talks and her boundless energy. It's a typical family dinner when Betty's mother offers her chocolate cake for dessert. Betty loudly exclaims she does NOT like chocolate cake though she has never tasted it. Once she takes a bite though she is hooked. For the next few days all she can do is talk about how much she loves chocolate cake. She even decides she is going to marry it! everything becomes about the next piece of cake until one bratty action sends her to bed without it.

The story lagged a little for me near the end and I really felt Betty wasn't properly chastised for her behaviour. However her actions are comical.
