MASQUERADE READALONG: WEEK 1

I'm really enjoying this book. It probably would have slid under my radar if the group hadn't organized the readalong. For 8 chapters a lot has been revealed yet secrets still exist. Heven is a young teen who has suffered an attack that left her scared, yet she has no memory of the attack. Here are my thoughts on this weeks discussion topics :

Chapters 1-8

1. If you were disfigured like Heven (by some sort of accident) do you think you would have reacted the same way as her? (loss of self confidence, hiding yourself, etc)

Interesting question. I think if I was an adult I would feel less intense feelings. The pressure of being in High School intensifies everything.

2. Do you think that Kimber’s plan for revenge against Cole (for kissing another girl) is a good idea?

No! Creating jealously in another person often backfires!

3. In the beginning chapters, Heven is very drawn to Sam but won’t admit it due to her own insecurities. Kimber begins to “date” Sam… do you think that Heven should have spoken up? I think Heven acted the best she could considering the situation. Do think Kimber should have seen Heven’s real feelings?

Kimber  was focused only on herself ,I don't blame her for missing the signs of Heven's crush.

4. Masquerade is broken in four separate POV’s: Heven, Sam, The Hate and The Hope. Do you think having multiple POV’s adds depth to the story? Why or why not?

I do like the different POV's I'm intrigued by The Hate and The Hope, I'm really wondering what their role in the book will be.

5. A great source of strength for Heven is her grandmother. Who do you think yours is/would be?

I think my father would be a great support for me and also my friends .

Hi!! Thank you for posting Kai!!! So glad you are reading the book with us! I agree that Kimber was too focused on herself to see what Heven was going through.
Hi Kai, thanks for joining us on the read along. Love the paisley on your blog. Yes, this is a good book, glad you are enjoying it. A lot has been revelaed but just wait :) The
hate and the hope definitely spice up the story for sure. Yes being disfigured would be so hard especially in high school. Enjoy the next chapters, you are in for some big suprises.

I have seen very few answers mentioning a father as their support. It is awesome to see. The POV's are interesting, I agree. Thanks for participating.
