Fangirl Summer Spotlight: The Tasks by Jon Chad

Fiction State of Mind-03

I loved the creativity involved in this Exclusive I picked up at San Diego Comic-Con. Jon Chad created 550 copies of this retro game cartridge that holds a mini comic called The Tasks. The story stars Darwin and Gumball the stars of The Cartoon Network show The Amazing World of Gumball. Darwin and Gumball are sad to learn they wont be joining  their family for the local Renaissance Fair. This is due to their destructive actions at lat years fair. As a consolation prize the kids father leaves them a retro game system to entertain themselves with.

The Game they play is called The Tasks, a Knights and Castles adventure. Surely these two can’t cause any trouble at home playing games right?

This is was such a fun little read. Chad really captures the feel of the animated show and despite being in Black and White the story is a visual treat and full of fun.

Like I mentioned earlier this was a SDCC exclusive but I’m sure a devoted search of the web will turn up some copies for sale.

This is my 45th book for Coyer
