HallowReads: Sleepy Hollow: Children Of The Revolution

halloween-Kai 1

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Blogging for Books  in exchange for a review.

Writing a novel in an established franchise can be tricky. As a fan you are entering the novel with a lot of expectations. You want the novel to have the feel of the show and yet add some new nuances to the characters. That was my mindset upon starting Children and I have to say I was really impressed with Keith’s take on the Sleepy Hollow  universe. This story  begins with Ichabod receiving a message from his wife Katrina. He must locate a medal he received during his first lifetime, the Congressional Cross. The only problem is that Ichabod never physically received his award and so Abbie  and the crew are on the trail .
Nothing is never that easy in Sleepy Hollow a coven of Witches are also looking for the medal and their plans for it aren’t good. I loved the pacing of this novel and the representations of the characters. It was a equal parts action packed and chilling. I loved getting a look into the thoughts of Ichabod and Abbie and the trademarked Ichabod rants. The book takes place before the Season 1 finale of the show so some of the characters are in a different place then the current episodes.
Sleepyheads will find a lot to love in this novel.
