I heard a lot of buzz about this series. With christmas giftcards a plenty I decided to give it a try. I really thought I was getting fed up
with vampire books!(pun intended) But Rachel Caine changed my mind. When we first meet Claire,she is a victim of a brutal attack. Claire's strength is immediately evident in her response.It leads her
Glass House and three intriguing roomates: Eve a tough as nails Goth Girl with a warm heart, Michael the mysterious owner of glass house and shane who hides a painful past behind his laid back demeanor.
In this opening book of the series the top players of the Morganville Vampire society are laid out. There is pleanty of action and suprises. She also skilfully sets up a series of events that lend themselves to several sequeles.
The writing is crisp and fastpaced. Claire is quickly established in Glass House and begins to truly see the nature of the town.
In some places the book slows doen and seems to veer temporaily in different directions but these loose threads tie seamlessly into the overall direction of this first adventure.
I highly suggest buying the dual book edition since book one ends in a shocking cliffhanger that leads directly into book two. :)
