I actually read My Soul To Take, the first novel in the series, before this prequel, but since I'm celebraing Rachel's work this week I thought Id review all the Soul Screamers books in order.

This Novella introduces us to Kaylee Cavanaugh. While on a trip to the mall with her best friend Emma she sufffers an extreme panic attack. The sight of a young boy in a wheel chair fills her with a grim certainity that he is going to die and an overwhelming urge to scream in response to it. Kaylee awakens in the Lakeside Mental Health Center and must find a way to control her impulses to Scream or find herself a permaneant resident.

This is an action packed Novella and I doubt anyone could resist picking up the first book in the series based upon it. In the 40+ pages you get a clear sense of Kaylee's character and want to learn more about her and her condition. There is also a chapter teaser of My Soul To Take.
