ZOMBIE WEEK BEGINS: Review/Giveaway Zombie Honeymoon!!
ZOMBIE WEEK IS HERE!!!
WHY ZOMBIES?
I was inspired to do Zombie Week from Author Jonathan Maberry's new Zombie web site. Jonathan is the amazing Author of this Fine book:
On his new zombie site Jonathan interviews some of the top writer's in the Zombie Genre to get their feedback on why zombies have such a strong cult following .check out their answers at:
I remember my first Zombie experience: Night Of The Living Dead . It was Halloween weekend. One of those wonderful Halloweens that falls on a Saturday. In one of those rare instances I had the TV to myself and was collapsed amidst my piles of candy flipping through channels, looking for something good. I remember first thinking the TV was broken as the opening scenes of the movie played until I realised it was in Black and White ;)
I was on the edge of my seat the entire film. The relentlessness of the zombie hoard, the tensions amongst the character's leading up to its dramatic ending. I was hooked. I think most of my continued visits to the Zombie Genre are attempts to recapture that first movie, those first terror filled but exhilarating experiences.
Zombie movies always suggest to me the very tenuous control society holds on our baser natures. The conditioning that compels us to stop at a red light, pay taxes, Not Kill all the truly RUDE SOB's we encounter in daily life. Zombies strip all of that away. When our creature comforts peeled away: electricity, water, cellphones we waken our survival instincts. What I enjoy most from the Genre is seeing what facets of human nature are examined. Who rises (he, he) to the occasion and becomes a hero. Who panics and becomes cannon fodder. Who started out a jerk and ends the same way, shred to pieces by an unstoppable, untiring flesh eating horde .

First up Zombie Honeymoon:
I'll be talking about a few other movies this week but I wanted to start with this one :) This small indie film may have fallen under the radar with zombie fans. Written and Directed by Dave Gebroe, this film contains plenty of horror, comedy and romance. The opening scenes of the film introduce us to Denise and Danny ,a newly wed young couple heading for their Honeymoon at the Jersey Shore. Tracy Coogan and Graham Sibley have a wonderful chemistry together. While on the beach a Strange man staggers out of the ocean and assaults Danny. This is not a typical attack the man coughs a vicious black fluid into Danny's mouth that causes him cardiac arrest and death. For 10 mins.
Danny works hard to control his urges for the sake of Denise, but he continues to spiral out of control and the body count continues to rise. This film has a fine balance of romance and dramatic tension as well as great Zombie action.
