Review: House of Mystery Vol :Under New Management

 House of Mystery continues to create some of the Creepiest, horrific and comedic stories month after month. This collection continues that tradition. For those not in the know The House of Mystery exists in simultaneous time and space locations. Those lucky (or unlucky) enough to find the house are welcomed into their famed Bar. the first drink is always free and the cost for any other libations comes at a price : A story. The framing piece in this story centers around Fig.Magic and Horror has always surrounded Fig. Mostly from her fictional adventures from her Father's best selling series of children's books in which she starred, to her permanent residence in the Mystery house.  Fig is reeling from a recent heartbreak and the revelation of deep family secrets. Fig's thoughts are dominated by all the past events and the House's new location the goblin Market she is also dealing with her new co-proprietors Cain and Able. In the midst of this a strange, maniacal man named Strawberry storms into the Bar claiming Fig is his sister. Lovely. Except Fig doesn't have a brother. Or does she? Matthew  Sturges continues to write a variety of interesting side stories that weave in and out of the main story lines: Trolls and Bridges, Young Vampires in love staining the streets of Italy red with Blood, and guest Artist Sergio Argones playfully draws a vicious little western tale.  Fables scribe Bill Willingham and artist Luca Rossi and Jose Marzan Jr. give us a heart stopping (literally!) tale Comes The Hunter about a warrior's quest for a true and pure heart.Writer Dave Justus and Paul Levitz bring the tale to a satisfying end that includes a sword fight between a librarian and the hunter!  Another great volume in the collection. I really enjoy reading House of Mystery in the graphic novel format because once I enter the House of Mystery I'm happy to have several issues available at once. This volume is new reader friendly .
