REVIEW: BLAMELESS by Gail Carriger

I clear my schedule for a Gail Carriger book. Her books are to be savored and given your full focus. I also consume vast amounts of tea and sweets and have the most heartfelt laughs! In this third volume a ll the wonderful hallmarks of this series: action, adventure, humor and numerous mentions of Lord Maccon glorious backside :). This volume also as a wonderful sweetness and melancholy on Alexia's part. Surprised to find herself pregnant she is even more shocked to discover Conall believes her to be unfaithful! It seems it is impossible for a Soulless and a Werewolf to produce offspring.

Alexia tries to plead her case to an extremely angry wolf, then decides its in her best interest to flee. Now she is back in the cold comfort of her family's home the source of the biggest scandal of the season!  She is fired from her role on the Queens preternatural council and then things really go from bad to worse when her pregnancy is leaked to the press.

Despite her soulless nature which makes her extremely practical, Alexia is feeling the loss of her husband. She also has to adapt to the growing changes in her body due to the "infant inconvenience". Not to mention an attack by murderous mechanical ladybugs! Never one to linger in helplessness Alexia develops a plan: to seek out answers about her pregnancy with the Templar's. So she engages the companionship of the lovely french woman Madame Lefoux and their off!

I really enjoyed Alexia and Madame Lefoux being reunited and all their adventures but I also really became more attached to Pprofessor Lyall in this volume. While Lord Maccon ( who I spent a great deal of this book being furious at!) drinks himself into oblivion, Lyall proves his worth as the packs Beta. I also loved the way he skillfully guided Maccon to discover the error of his ways!

A solid entry in the series with a wonderful ending as well as some great scenes with Ivy, newly wed and still wonderfully silly.

If you have yet to try this series do yourself a favor and pick up book one in this series.

I love this series! Love it, love it, love it! I just recently bought a copy of Heartless and have been waiting for just the right time to read it. I don't want to be left with a cliffhanger ending like Changeless :) I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the series as much as I am!
