Armchair BEA Day 1: Introductions First

Hi everyone! I'm excited to be a part of Armchair BEA once again! Because I make my yearly geek pilgrimage to San Diego Comic-Con every July, BEA hasn't been a financial possibility for me so far. That's why I love connecting with other bloggers during Armchair BEA. This year the event looks better than ever! So lets get to it! Below are 5 questions I picked from the Introductions page. I'm looking forward to reading everyone's posts.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
Hello I'm Kai! I've been a reader my whole life. I cant imagine a day without reading. Even in my worst reading slump I manage to read something every day: A magazine, comic book, a snippet of poetry etc. I'm an east coast native who relocated to California over 17 years ago. I have my finger in many different "pies":  fiction of all genres, Manga, Comic Books, Star Wars, Pride & Prejudice, Horror films and I'm not opposed to a steamy period romance from time to time.
I have been blogging for over three years. I discovered Twtter due to one of my favorite authors Joe Hill. Twitter is also where I discovered my first blogger. I was blown away by these group of men and women who were brave enough to put their thoughts about books out into the digital universe.
I was inspired to blog by two very special women. One is my Horror soul mate: Carolyn of BOOK CHICK CITY. The second blogger is Kristi from THE STORY SIREN. To some mentioning Kristi may stir up a whole bunch of controversy, but I would be remiss to not mention her inspiration in the founding of my blog.
At the end of the day everyone makes mistakes. My hope is for Kristi and all of us Bloggers to move forward and thrive.

Tell us one non-book-related thing that everyone reading your blog may not know about you

Hmm. Maybe my profession? I'm a Massage Therapist. I'm also certified in IET a form of energy healing and I'm a certified Yoga Instructor .

What is your favorite feature on your blog (i.e. author interviews, memes, something specific to your blog)?
I'd have to say my new feature : My Yoga. I decided to challenge myself to do Yoga everyday for a year. The Internet is the ultimate place for accountability! Days when I don't feel like doing my home practice I think of my Monday update  posts and how I want to write the words : Goal achieved!

What literary location would you most like to visit? Why?

England ! Every since my Mother read my the stories of King Arthur and Robin Hood I've been in love with the country. Many of my favorite Authors, Actors, television shows and of course Tea are English. I also love English Bloggers, and am know to throw Fab and Brilliant into my everyday slang :)

Have your reading tastes changed since you started blogging? How?

I read wayyyy more books since I started blogging. which is fascinating to me because so many bloggers say they read less because of blogging. I attribute it to my readathon addiction! I also read tons more YA more than I did when I was a young adult. I also read much more mystery and Fantasy books.

Thanks for stopping by! I'm probably off reading your posts :) Happy Armchair BEA!

Fantasy books are some of my favorites, so I love that you read more of them now! Massage therapy can be so helpful for people, so good on you for being helpful!

Hi Kai! I think it's awesome you're a massage therapist. I haven't been to one but I really need to, haha. I agree about reading more books since blogging. My TBR pile has grown quite a bit too!

Yoga? I'm impressed. It takes a lot of concentration; I've never been able to manage it.

It's nice to meet you, Kai! If you have the time, I’d love to hear from you at my armchair BEA post.
I would love to go to England and do so many things! Speaking of Robin Hood, I finally just read SCARLET! I agree; by blogging, I read so many more books, especially YA! Books I'd never otherwise consider reading, no less!
A LOT of people have started reading more YA after they entered the blogging scene :P
