THE UNREVIEW: Before I Wake by Rachel Vincent
PUBLISHER:
SOUL SCREAMERS BOOK 6
Ok, this is book 6 in the Soul Screamers series. So if you aren't on board with this amazing series then I probably can't convince you to at this point. So I'm just going to gush about all the amazing elements Rachel has in this series.
The Characters:
Rachel has an amazing gift of character development. Kaylee is not the same girl she was in the first book of the series. Not only has she changed physically, but the emotional landscapes have changed as well. It's been amazing watching how her relationships between Nash and Tod have changed.
In this volume Kaylee is getting used to her new powers and trying to salvage the emotional connections between herself, Nash and Sabine. I love how things aren't so Black & White in Rachel's world.
Also I have to gush a bit about Tod ~sigh~. Tod is the most well rounded male character in the YA world. Over the past six books we have watched his feelings for Kaylee transform. Most importantly Tod has always been her friend and put his life on the line for her. Literally. Tod also has the strength to follow his heart, despite the friction it might cause in his family.
THE ACTION
OMG! The action and body count in this volume is really intense! The gangs persistent foe, Avari has discovered a trick that puts all their lives at risk. Rachel has such an incredible supporting cast as well. In the midst of all the danger Rachel manages to showcase each individual member of the series this really connects the reader with the characters and increases the tension levels as you wonder who will survive and who won't .
We also get one of Rachel's trademark twists in this volume, and now the wait begins for the final book in the series,
So there is my gush moment for one of my favorite series. There are some great Omnibus editions of the Soul Screamers out their that will help you catch up!
Happy Reading!
