Review: Endless Knight by Kresley Cole

Arcana Chronicles Book 2
Source: Library Book
This was one of the books I was really looking forward to in 2014. I made sure to order it at my library so I wouldn't have to wait for long to read it. This book picks up right where book 1, Poison Princess ended. It took me a little bit to remember what had gone before but after I few chapters I was caught up.
Evie has stepped fully into her powers and wields all the powers of The Empress. This binds her closer to her Arcana allies but drives a huge wedge between her and her protector Jack. Where does their relationship go when she no longer needs protection but still wants Jack?
Jacks responsive to Evie’s transformation is anger and possibly fear. Now he is the lone human in their band an its possible that he can’t get over the changes in Evie’s life.
They get very little time to figure things out as they are on the run from Zombies, cannibals and fellow Arcana looking to kill Evie’s band in order to gain power.
Evie however has a plan. Death is the arcana feared by them all. He has won the last three arcana battles in history and Evie decides that they all should team up together to defeat him and then stop playing the game entirely.
Its a great plan except for the fact that Death haunts Evie’s dreams and sets up a series of events that will force her to surrender all to him.
This definitely felt like a middle book to me. It was enjoyable but it was also slow in some parts. I don't know if the book is meant to go beyond a third book but some interludes felt like filler before the final battle. Overall though this was a solid enjoyable read.
