Armchair BEA Day 1: Literature
By definition Literature is any written work. Though I love Historic Literature, and Classics today I want to talk about Graphic Novels. Here are just a few books form this genre that are wonderful examples of memoirs and fictionalized memoirs:
Maus is an illustrated narrative of Art Spiegelman’s parents experiences during the Holocaust. It is a riveting often difficult read that I always recommend to those interested in Graphic Novels.
Blankets is a memoir by Craig Thompson that explores his childhood and his first time falling in love. Its gorgeous and heartbreaking and incredibly brave work. I hadn't realized how much the work had effected me until I met Craig at a signing and was nearly in tears while chatting about life and his work :)
Essex County is a massive volume that collects three interconnected stories about several generations of families bound by Love, Anger and Hockey. I’m a huge fan of Jeff Lemire. I love his stark illustrations and narrative prowess.
I hope you give one or all of these books a try! They are considered classics in their genre and are easily found online or in libraries.

Have to check these ones out.
I didn't give much thought to graphic novels when I was younger.
As I get older, I am reading them more. Like fredamans...
I am making a note to check out the ones you listed.
Thanks for sharing.
