A few years ago DC Comics did a major Reboot of their comic book universe and released 52 new books. The New 52 lineup included a lot of changes for characters along with some major talent shake up. I’ll confess to not being a fan of many of the books. I also didn't enjoy the direction the Teen Titans creative team took many of my beloved characters. This is business as usual for many comic fans. Trends change, Writers have a different vision of a character fans have loved for years etc, etc.
I have however been a huge fan of the Earth One graphic novels DC has produced so far with Superman and Batman, so when I saw Earth One Teen Titans on Netgalley I requested it right away.
I really loved this book! I mean four stars, need volume two right now kind of love! Deftly helmed by Jeff Lemire’s exciting vision of the team and Dodson’s stellar art, readers watch Gar, Tara, Victor, and Joseph lives cross each other in a small Oregon town. Framing this story is a glimpse into the life of a young woman named Raven who lives on a Navajo reservation in New Mexico. Gar and company have come to her in intense dreams that her grandfather explains are visions of things to come. Raven’s life is about to become even more complicated as her home is visited by an alien presence.
a great balance of mystery and action with some really great female characters. A stellar way to explore beloved characters in a new and exciting way.
This is my 51st book for Coyer Summer Vacation
