Armchair BEA: Day 1: Introductions & Library Love
It’s time for another Armchair BEA! I love this event because so far, going to BEA hasn’t been in the cards for me. With social media however, and this great event, it’s possible to be a part of the event online. Netgalley has also started making the arcs from the show available digitally which lessens book envy. So now on to today’s topic!
Introduction
Tell us a bit about yourself: How long have you been blogging? Where are you from? How did you get into blogging? I’ve been blogging for over 5 years. I discovered the blogging world through twitter. A lot of bloggers i connected to were very helpful and supported my blog early on which gave me the confidence to keep going.
What does diversity mean to you?
Diversity means that the various sizes, ages, ethnicities, and belief systems of the majority of humans on the planet are explored in popular fiction. We’ve come a long way baby, but there are miles and miles to go before we can be even remotely equal.
What is one book everyone should read?
I would gently suggest that fiction fans check out Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, even if you know nothing about the 80’s, gaming life and think you don’t “like” Science Fiction.
What book are you reading right now?
I’m reading The Name of The Wind by Patrick Rothfuss
What book are you most looking forward to reading this summer?
Star Wars Dark Disciple by Christie Golden Love Star Wars!!
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what author would you want to bring with
Jane Austen!
Library Love
I’m part of the Los Angeles Public Library, Mid-Valley branch. Their website is Here
The Library has been especially important to me this year since I put myself on a book buying ban in January. I’ve been using the library for all genres especially the Attack on Titan Manga series and the latest Zom-B books. I also like to go into the new releases for Young adult and Children books. Recently I’ve also been checking out exercise videos and classic films that aren’t on my Netflix or Hulu accounts.
My library also has a wonderful app that allows me to put books on hold and renew them. have a great week! I’m looking forward to reading everyone's posts.
Comments
I love the post about your library, because I did not have photos or an interview with a librarian as I only came across the #ABEA post today mere minutes before I posted my Intro post I didn't get to prepare :( Wish I had cos I could have gone to my local libraries to take pics, but I think I will edit my post to reflect just generally info about my local libraries as you have done.
Here's my BEA Intro Post
