Review: Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library by Chris Grabenstein
This was a fun romp and, a love letter to libraries. Kyle Keeley is not having a good week. He is grounded, and then he finds out about an essay contest to win a night in the towns fantastic new library. A contest he didn't enter.
He wouldn't care that much if it wasn't for he contest being judged by his favorite game designer Mr. Lemoncello. So Kyle hastily pens an essay and throws it in the contest.
Suprisingly Kyle is picked! he and several contestants must complete a series of bookish themed challanges overnight to escape the library for fantastic prizes.
Kyle is a lot of fun and his friends all have quirky personalities that give the story a lot a twists and turns. There is also some great rivals for his team to play against. I loved the literary refrences in the story as well, Mr. Lemoncello throws lots of literary refrences that are fun for avid readers.
The female characters in this book are also stellar. They are smart and quirky and the boys treat them as equals.
A great start to a series I will be following. I also love that there is a list of all the books and magazines listed in the back of the book so readers can add them to their TBR pile.
