12 Days Review: When Santa Fell to Earth bu Cornelia Funke
I was wandering through the shelves at my local library looking for Holiday books and I discovered this. I haven't read that many Funke books so I was excited to give it a try.
The story starts with a bang, or a crash, as Twinklestar the flying reindeer is startled and breaks away from the caravan he is carrying.
This leaves Niklas Goodfellow, a Santa Claus grounded and in danger.Niklas is actually operating outside the rules of Christmas. Gerold Geronimus Goblynch controls theNorth and the holiday season. Goblynch has turned Christmas into a very controlled , money centered enterprise.
Niklas is the last independent Santa and as he gets his caravan repaired, Niklas meets young Ben, a boy in dire need of some holiday spirit. Ben is enthralled by the Angeles that keep Niklas in cocoa and gingerbread, He also is fascinated by the little band of surly elves that make toys and repair the caravan.
But as danger draws closer Niklas is still trapped without his Reindeer. That's when a young girl name Charlotte enters the groups lives and helps them with their quest.
This book has just the right blend of action, and Christmas spirit. A very sweet read, perfect for the whole family.
