12 Days : Day 2 Comfort food Children's Books

When Oprah spotlighted Laura's book above It felt wonderful to know other adults draw comfort from Children's books. Every December I take time to enjoy reading Holiday themed Children's books. HEre are some of my favorite so far this month:

Louis has had enough! Forced to endure tea parties , being constantly dirty and even forgotten, has him looking to run away. But every time Louis tries to leave something stops him until he starts to realize maybe his life isn't so bad after all.

Black is a Rainbow Color brought me to tears. For such a special book to exist in such a challenging year is a gift. This book is a celebration of black creators and also a history lesson of difficult truths that most be explored in order to move forward. It also is a great book for classrooms.

Humankind has a great capacity for compassion. Look at an great crisis or tragedy in human history and you will find great compassion. Finding Kindness is a beautiful book to remind us that the little kindnesses we put into the world can not only be a catalyst for great change but also spread to those who witness our acts. In this book we see children feel and express empathy. I loved this so much and it will definitely be a book I gift to others.

Elee & Me is a Target Exclusive book that ties into the Star Wars Galaxy's Edge park. Elee is a gift to a young girl whose growth spurts over time make it difficult for Elee to live in the Spire. A choice needs to made that will be to the benefit of Elee without disrupting a loving relationship between best friends. This book really connected with me. This book feels like a sweet familiar place you have visited before, though all the elements that make it that way are new and unique. I loved the art in this story and since I was fortunate to visit Galaxy's edge I could envision the sights and sounds that the story takes place in.
