Review: Doctor Aphra by Sarah Kuhn

I have had the opportunity to experience both versions of this story: The original audio drama and now the collected script book. I have thoroughly enjoyed both versions but I am very partial to the audio drama because of the stellar cast.

This story is told through the eyes of  Dr. Chelli Lona Aphra.  Aphra is an unreliable narrator at best and at worst willing to have lots of collateral damage to meet her ends. Sometimes that damage is at the expense of people who come to love her. Kuhn has found a deft way to balance the stories from the  original comics with Aphra's  desire to make amends to Sana Starros.

In her recordings to Sana we see the battle between emotional connections and profit that are defining traits to Aphra's character. The script has a complete retelling of the audio drama with minimal descriptive cues but overall an enjoyable read. So either way you choose to engage with this series is satisfying and a great representation of Aphra's origin story.
