SDCC Spotlight Graphix Publishing

The graphix imprint has been a brand that I have been following for some time. The imprint is aimed at younger readers and its stories are reflections of the challenges and aspirations that many of their target audience face. As a comics fan I have enjoyed the fun stories and diversity of topics and characters in their stories even though I’m older than their target audience. The company has a nice balance of original stories and new takes on IP properties like Miles Morales, a teen who took the mantle of Spider-Man for several popular comic arc.

At  their gathering at SDCC the company had creatives available to chat about their upcoming New Season of Graphix releases.

The 5 stories all focus around different milestones in the characters lives. For Miles Morales it’s balancing being Spider-Man along with school and the expectations of his school and parents.  Justin A.Reynolds & Pablo Leon return to tell another tale of this popular character.

Superheroes are also explored in the Book  Leon The Extraordinary by Jamar Nicholas. Leon is an ordinary kid trying to find his way in a world populated with superheroes and villains. The books The Tryout by Christina Soontornvat & Joanna Cacao and Freestyle by Gale Galligan are female focused stories focused on trying new things and friendship. Squished by Megan Wagner Lloyd & Michelle Mee Nutter focuses on 11 year old Avery who has six brothers and sisters. The book focuses on the challenges and the love in large families.

These New season of books have release dates Spanning September 2022 thru March 2023.

Graphix is also promoting their Summer of graphix an initiative to get kids reading over the summer by spotlighting series like Cat Kid Comic Club by Dav Pilkey & Making Friends by Kristen Gudsnuck and the popular I survived series of books . These fun reads are all ages friendly so check them out this summer! The brand is also celebrating being a 2022 Eisner Award Nominee for Best Publication For Kids.
